Suite360 Student Lesson: Realistic and Positive Body Image

Brief Summary: This lesson defines body image as the subjective picture or mental image of one’s own body. Students will be able to recognize the different types of body image (perceptual and cognitive) as well as discover how they SEE, THINK and ACCEPT their body.  The lesson will show several videos in which teens talk about body image and the impact society has on how they view their bodies.  Students will learn how to be realistic in regards to body image by accepting their body as it is and setting realistic goals to feel good about themselves.   Students will learn about the importance of having a positive body image.  They will recognize the impact this has in their mental, social, emotional lives as well as their academics.
